The city of Cape Town is one with several features ranging from mesmerising natural wonders to thrilling landscapes and many tranquil oceanic beachfront. The city is practically the adventure capital of South Africa, with the lifestyle of the locals centred around outdoor adventure activities.

About LIFT Airline

The vision behind starting LIFT airline was to challenge the notion that costly services do not always equate to excellent services. The airline was started with the aim of providing the people of South Africa with a business model based on them. A system that works in favour of the travellers by being the most flexible airline in South Africa and offering travellers the convenience of changing their travel dates or even cancelling the flight without any surcharge or hidden charges.

The name of the airline was due to a massive social media campaign, in which the general public was invited to christen the airline. It was here that eight creative individuals came up with the term “LIFT” for the airline. On 10th October 2020, the airline made its first maiden flight from Cape Town and on board were those who suggested the airline's name.

Baggage

LIFT Airline allows you to travel with a 7kg hand luggage that should be small enough to fit in the overhead compartment of your airplane. Anything larger or more than that needs to be a part of the checked-in luggage which is 23 kgs. The airline also allows you to carry 1 additional special or sporting equipment.

Health & Safety

  • A face mask must be worn by all passengers and staff during the flight.
  • Prior to each flight, all surfaces are meticulously sanitized, including security trays, check-in stations, tray tables and screens.
  • You can avoid queues by downloading your boarding pass.
  • More than 99% of airborne particles, including viruses and bacteria, are removed by onboard HEPA filters.
  • During the inspection, travellers will be required to scan their own boarding passes and hold up their passports.

Check-In

The domestic flight check-in counter closes 40 minutes before departure, while an international flight check-in counter closes an hour before departure. In order to avoid last-minute delays, passengers are encouraged to check in 90 minutes prior to departure. Check-in requires photo identification for each passenger and certified birth certificates of an infant or child must be certified. Passports are also required for international flights.

We recommend checking in online before getting to the airport - it saves you time and is easy. Online check-in opens 24 hours before departure and closes 4 hours before flight departure.
