About FlySafair
FlySafair’s vision of becoming South Africa's favourite airline is achieved by being the official domestic airline for the Springbok Rugby Team and the South African Rugby team. Thus, providing the national teams with limitless experiences in domestic travel. While inching closer to the company’s vision of becoming South Africa’s favourite airline offering the best pocket-friendly fares in South Africa.
FlySafair is the consumer-based tangent of Safair that began back in 1965, that began as an air logistics and specialized air services company in South Africa. Safair has been involved in numerous humanitarian aid, animal conservation missions, air relief operations and many more in the past. Safair was one of the first commercial aviation companies to make a landing on the short dirt runways in deep Africa. It was also one of the first commercial airlines to make a landing on ice in Antarctica back in 1993. These landings were also made possible by just one particular airplane in Safair’s fleet, the Lockheed Hercules C-130 which is one of the biggest cargo planes in the world and often used by the US military on their missions.
FlySafair came to be on 16th October 2014 from an aviation logistics company that already had an experience of 60+ years of operating in South Africa and other regions of Africa.
Baggage
FlySafair allows you to travel with a 7kg hand luggage that should be small enough to fit in the overhead compartment of your airplane. Anything larger or more than that needs to be a part of the checked-in luggage.

- A face mask must be worn by all passengers and staff during the flight.
- Prior to each flight, all surfaces are meticulously sanitized, including security trays, check-in stations, tray tables and screens.
- You can avoid queues by downloading your boarding pass.
- More than 99% of airborne particles, including viruses and bacteria, are removed by onboard HEPA filters.
- During the inspection, travellers will be required to scan their own boarding passes and hold up their passports.
Check-In
The domestic flight check-in counter closes 40 minutes before departure, while an international flight check-in counter closes an hour before departure. In order to avoid last-minute delays, passengers are encouraged to check in 90 minutes prior to departure.
