The history of Mauritius isn't that old as the island nation remained uninhabited for thousands of years. It was during the Middle Ages when the Arab sailors bumped into the island during a journey and made it a visiting base. They named it 'Dina Arabi'. Later, in the year 1810, the British laid their foundation and took control of the administration. The British Empire ruled the country until it gained complete independence in the year 1968.
