Day 1
Reykjavík, Iceland
Day one of the tour begins with your arrival at the Keflavík International Airport (KEF) in Reykjavík. Post that you will be transferred to check-in at either the Icelandair Marina Hotel or Canopy by Hilton Reykjavík City Centre. After check-in, the group will head into an indoor ice cave at the new Perlan Museum. In the evening the group will gather for a welcome dinner at the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant.
Day 2
Golden Circle
Day two will see the group heading out to explore the Golden Circle. The Golden Circle tour will include a guided tour of Thingvellir National Park, the geothermal hotbed at the Geysir and a visit to the magnificent falls of Gullfoss.
Day 3
Húsafell/Langjökull
On day three the group will check out from the lodging in Reykjavík and move to the city of Húsafell. On the way to Húsafell, you will have the opportunity to stop at a hot spring and a waterfall for a quick dip. On reaching Húsafell the group will check in to Hotel Húsafell and have the time to freshen up before moving out. Post this we will venture into the ice tunnels of Langjökull. After this, you will return back to the hotel in Húsafell, for the night’s stayover.
Day 4
Snæfellsnes
On day four, the group will head on out to the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, to see the Kirkjufell peak. Post that you will have the chance to walk on the black pebble beach at Djúpalónssandur and descend into another 8000-year-old lava tube. Post this the tour will make a stop at the Volcano Museum for an extensive brief on the numerous volcanoes that adorn the country of Iceland.
Day 5
Húsafell/Siglufjördur
On the fifth day of the tour the group will check out from the hotel in Húsafell. Post that we will head north and stop at a waterfall and visit the rock fortress of Borgarvirki. After that, you will have the opportunity to witness a demonstration of Icelandic horseback riding. Post this we will explore the traditional turf farm houses at the Skagafjörður Heritage Museum. In the evening the group will check in at the Siglo Hotel in Siglufjördur for a layover.
Day 6
Hrísey
On day six the tour will check out from the hotel in Siglufjördur and head for Hrísey. On the way, the group will stop for bird watching on the isle of Hrísey, where you will also have the chance to visit the spectacular Goðafoss waterfall on the way to Mývatn. On reaching Mývatn you will check in to Hotel Laxa.
Day 7
Mývatn
On day seven you will have the opportunity to venture into the Grjótagjá Cave, witness the geothermal activity of Námaskarð and the lava towers of Dimmuborgir and finally go skinny dipping in the nearby hot springs.
Day 8
Mývatn/Akureyri
On day eight the group will check out from the hotel in Mývatn and head to the next destination of Akureyri. On the way visit a geothermal power plant and explore the Viti Crater and the Ásbyrgi Canyon. Witness Dettifoss, Europe’s most powerful waterfall and afterwards continue on to Akureyri for your check-in at Hotel KEA.
Day 9
Húsavík/Akureyri
Day nine will commence with the group heading out to meet a renowned marine biologist, Charla Basran to learn about her studies on cetaceans. Post this the group leaves for an exciting whale-watching cruise. The rest of the evening is at your own leisure before joining the group for a farewell dinner.
Day 10
After a scrumptious breakfast
you will take a local charter to Reykjavík’s domestic airport. On the way to Keflavík International Airport (KEF) take a quick dip at the Blue Lagoon. Post which you will board your flight back home.
