Day 2
South Sightseeing Tours Mauritius on SIC (8 hrs tour)
After breakfast, the tour discovers Grand Bassin which is at about 1800 ft. above sea level. It is considered one of the most sacred places for Hindus in Mauritius. Feel the serene and calm vibes of a tourist-favourite place that is surrounded by forestation. Visit the Mangal Mahadev temple revered for its 33 ft tall giant Shiva statue standing with his trident at the entrance.
Later will stop at the Black River Gorges National Park which is home to a bountiful of endemic flora and fauna. The endangered species are actively protected by the NPC (National Park and Conservation Service) from the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. Look to find a few of them such as the Mauritius Kestrel, Mauritius Parakeet, Pink Pigeon, and Mauritius Bulbul among others.
The national park is home to over 300 of the 700 species of plants found all over Mauritius that grow in the national park's fertile soil. Some of them are Trochetia, the Ox Tongue, the Chinese Guava, gorgeous Orchids, Anthurium and many more.
After the National Park visit, we will proceed to Chamarel’s Seven Coloured Earth Geopark, Chamarel, Mauritius. Located in the Chamarel plain of the Black River District in the southern part of Mauritius, this small area of sand dunes is fascinating at Chamarel Seven Coloured Earth Geopark. This is Mother Nature at its best as you see the 7-coloured Earth (Terres des Sept Couleurs in French) spectrum of the sand dunes. It is due to the natural phenomena of chemicals in the soil where patterns have been carved by the rain over time.
Last but not least visit Rhumerie de Chamarel, Royal Rd, Chamarel, Mauritius .Go on a tasting, shopping and culinary experience in a well-designed distillery called Le Rhumerie de Chamarel. Perched at 300 m above the southwest coast of Mauritius, this structure has been built to blend harmoniously with its spectacular surroundings. It is located on fertile lands and is unique due to the cultivation of its own sugarcane that is carefully selected for rum production. Check out the restaurant and shop here.
