About Cathay Pacific

Cathay Pacific or Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd. is a popular Southwest airline headquartered in Hong Kong. The airline made its maiden flight in 1946 when two ex-Air Force pilots bought a Douglas DC-3 plane nicknamed ‘Betsy’ with the intent of transporting much-needed goods from Australia to China. The name of the airline was also derived from the vision of one day crossing the Pacific Ocean from China.

Fast forward to the 21st century, Cathay Pacific operates a fleet of over 170+ airpalnes. The airline was the first one to introduce a ‘Premium Economy Class’ for travellers in 2012. Which was designed to cater to the premium flying experience that several travellers were looking for at pocket-friendly rates. This is one of the many offerings that took Cathay Pacific took to help its customers get the best of both worlds.

Baggage

Cathay Pacific allows you to travel with 7kg hand luggage that should be small enough to fit in the overhead compartment of your airplane. For the check-in luggage, Cathay Pacific offers a luggage allowance of 23 Kg for local and international travel in economy class.

Health & Safety

  • All passengers and staff must wear a face mask during the flight.
  • Prior to each flight, all surfaces are meticulously sanitized, including security trays, check-in stations, tray tables and screens.
  • You can avoid queues by downloading your boarding pass.
  • More than 99% of airborne particles, including viruses and bacteria, are removed by onboard HEPA filters.
  • During the inspection, travellers will be required to scan their own boarding passes and hold up their passports.

Check-In

The domestic flight check-in counter closes 60 minutes before departure, while an international flight check-in counter closes an hour before departure. In order to avoid last-minute delays, passengers are encouraged to check in 90 minutes prior to departure. Check-in requires photo identification for each passenger and certified birth certificates of an infant or child must be certified. Passports are also required for international flights.

We recommend checking in online before getting to the airport - it saves you time and is easy. Online check-in opens 24 hours before departure and closes 4 hours before flight departure.
